본인의 헌혈 경험에 대해서 이야기해 주세요.

In December of last year, I visited a blood donation center and donated blood for the 55th time.
작년 12월, 나는 헌혈의 집에 가서 55번째 헌혈을 하였다.

I received a silver badge for my 30th donation, and a gold badge for my 50th.
30번째 헌혈을 했을 때는 은장을 받았고, 50번째 헌혈을 했을때는 금장을 받기도 했다.

To tell the truth, I donated blood at first because they gave away freebies like gift certificates and movie tickets.
솔직히 말하면, 처음에는 문화상품권이나 영화 티켓 같은 무료 사은품을 줘서 헌혈을 했다.

But as the number of donation piled up, I started gunning for silver and gold badges.
그런데, 헌혈하는 횟수가 늘수록 은장과 금장을 목표로 하게 되었다.

These days, I give blood on the regular, about 4 to 5 times each year.
지금은 매년 4~5번 정도 주기적으로 헌혈을 하고 있다.

You can make an appointment to donate blood.

If you don't, you have to take a number and wait for your turn.
예약을 하지 않은 경우, 번호표를 뽑고 차례를 기다려야 한다.

When they call your number, they check your ID, take your blood pressure, and run a blood test.
본인 번호가 불리면 신분 확인, 혈압 측정, 혈액 검사를 한다.

If you have registered your fingerprints, you don't need ID. 
지문 등록을 해 놓았다면, 신분증이 없어도 된다.

Donating blood is its own reward, but you also get a certificate and a free gift.
헌혈은 그 자체로도 보람된 일이지만, 헌혈을 한 후에는 증서와 사음품도 받게 된다.

That makes giving blood a twofer: you can help others and receive a gift.
그런 면에서 헌혈은 다른 사람도 돕고 선물도 받으니 일석이조인 것 같다.
